Nudes, Toucans, and Flour Sacks

From now on I'll try to do more frequent updates with just a few things in each post instead of saving it all up and posting every few months |D

I've been making digital artwork for a long time but always stuck to lines/cartoonyish stuff, even though I've been wanting to try digital painting forever. So I finally did my first real attempt at digital painting in Photoshop. I have A LOT to learn, but it was fun
From March 18th, 2011

A few more quick Toucan sketches I did in class, plus a cockatoo because they're just as adorable qvq

Over spring break the homework in Traditional Animation was to do 100 silhouettes of your animal and experiment with shapes. Here's 100 Toucan shapes, LOL

And here's the flour-sack story animation I finished just before spring break. I'm pretty disappointed though, I want to change everything 8\

Already Spring Break

Sorry it took me so long to update, I was waiting to get back a few pieces from my Color teacher, but didn't end up getting them back.. oh well 8(

A few weeks ago in Traditional Animation we were told about an animal jump assignment we would get after spring break, but the teachers decided to give us our animals really early. I got a Toucan and was really excited to experiment with different ways of exaggerating them, so I sketched out a page of them the next day

A brightly colored still life

Had to paint the same still-life twice with the background color changed. I hate re-doing the same still-life over and over again ;_; You can tell which one is my second one from how much messier and half-assed it is lskdjfs

This was supposed to be done posterized-like, but I got lazy sldkfjsdf It was another still life we had to do twice 8(

An interior where we were supposed to choose a dominant warm or cool color and then use an opposing warm or cool color in a few objects. I did the Common Room 8) Our furniture moves around on a day-to-day basis haha. WHY DID THIS COME OUT BLURRY, FFF

I've been debating whether or not I should upload my digital illustrations here, because I see everyone else doing it on their art blogs. On one hand it'd be nice to show people other things I do, but at the same time I like keeping school art and personal art separated, and don't know if I feel comfortable showing more personal art, even though I like it better 8c IDK, maybe I can get some opinions?

Winter Update Part 2

As promised, here's the second part of the gesture dump c8 These are all from November/December.

Most of these are 30 second to 1 minute gestures. There's a few random clothed models in there too, from the day the model was double-booked and didn't show up and we had students model haha. The stool pose at the very bottom cracked me up, he just suddenly collapsed onto it and I died lsdkfjs

November-December 2010

And then here's another self-portrait with my earflap hat I always wear everyday during the fall and winter |D I had to do 3 self-portraits in 4 days, so I ended up just doing the first two that were for Figure Drawing, and then turning the first one in again for my Drawing class LOL.

An Update, Finally

Oh man, I haven't been able to update in so long ;_; My laptop had SERIOUS problems and I had to reinstall the OS 13 times over the last couple months and get a new hard-drive, so between all the errors and frustrating re-installations and backing up and switching files, plus school stuff, I just didn't get a chance to update p_p Hopefully I'll have everything fixed over Christmas vacation and have a nice, working computer when I go back |D

SO ANYWAYS, this stuff is from October and November. I'll make another post later this week with more stuff.

October and November gestures:

A couple portraits we did in Figure class as well:

And a self-portrait where we could use only white and black charcoal and only block shapes with no blending:

There Is A Distinct Difference In the Number of Remaining Pokemon

It's really hard keeping up with organizing and posting all the art I make lskdjf This is a compilation of cafe people sketches that I did a few weeks ago. Some of them are my friends lol, I ran out of time |D
September 2010

A bunch of semi-recent gestures. Near the end is when my Figure Drawing teacher told me I had to be more loose and stop using outlines ffff
October 2010

Super crappy rushed handz, but I'll post anyways lsdkjf
