First Gesture Arts

An art post, as promised c8

These are my favorite gesture drawings (from 4 figure drawing classes) over the last couple weeks. All of them are 1 minute long sketches unless I put otherwise. They go from oldest at the top to most recent at the bottom.
September 3rd, 2010
I was terrified of doing 30 second gestures at first because THEY'RE SO FRUSTRATINGLY FAST, but they became my favorite pretty quickly, and it seems like a lot of my best ones come from those |D

I've done a bunch of cafe sketches of people in my sketchbook, a ton of random object sketches, some wire gesture figurines, and some finished charcoal/graphite pictures, but I'm gonna wait until I get all those projects back from my teachers so I can post them all up at once 8) So that's it for now! Thanks for looking cB

First Florida Photos

I'm gonna make up for not updating for awhile by putting up two posts, but from now on I'll try to update every other week c8

SO. After staying in California for a little less than a week, we flew out to Florida, where I proceeded to take many, many pictures. Some faves:

And then I arrived at Ringling c8 I love my dorm so so much ;v; I'm in North Hall - it's one of the new buildings, and it's gorgeous ad colorful and so cleannnn:

I'll take some good pictures of the inside later, but for now I'll just show you my dorm room (I'm on the 5th floor):

That amazing Star Wars poster and the two Dark Knight ones I got at a Poster Sale in the auditorium last week ;v; The Star Wars one was only $8.50 because of the rips in it, but it was the only one left: I LOVE DEMS.
And then here's the Common Room where everyone hangs out to talk, watch movies, play video games, have laptop parties, do arts, and whatever else:
IT'S FUN.
Everyone got to know each other through orientation with lots of games and meetings, and it was lots and lots of funnn. We all settled in after that and then classes started that Monday (like 3 weeks ago now lol). I LOVE THEM ALL except Development of Western Art and Ideas which is Art History at 8am and it's so extremely monotonous and boring and I always fall asleep a little lsdjfsk But the rest of my classes are amazing qvq I love art homework. When I'm not in classes I spend most of the time hanging out in the Common Room with all those cool peoples, and we all go to eat together and stuff so we're all ~*bonded*~. It feels like I've already been here for a long time, it's so weird |D But I love it to death here - I'm so excited for the next four years ;u;

Introduction

So this will be my new official blog for Ringling art stuffs and life event updates. I'll try and post here as frequently as I can. I need to make or find a good layout for this one!

Let's start off with this - My name is Molly and I'm going into my freshman year at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and I'm majoring in Game Art & Design. I'm EXTREMELY excited.
Goals: On top of all the core classes, 3D art, environmental art, and developmental/narrative art, over the next four years I really want to focus on character design as well, and illustrating digital concept art. Overall I also want to focus on and experiment with anatomy/different body types, facial expressions/body language, more natural/dynamic poses, color, and being able to draw anything and everything. Those are my big focus points for my first year - and onward - I guess!
Dreams: Working for Valve or LucasArts making concept art/games/movies ;v;

That Tuesday 8:45am class and the Mon/Thurs 8:30am class are going to KILL ME ;^; I'm such a night owl, I hate waking up early. This is college, why do we have to wake up so early anyways skdfhs I THOUGHT WE WERE OVER THIS, DAMMIT. I'll try to make sure this doesn't happen again for next semesters, haha |D

Sorry this first post was SO VERY BLAND, I'm just getting it set up for the good stuff ;D
